The idea is to get the puppies to eat the food, and not wade through it. They will eventually get the point, but for now they're quite content getting covered in it, and licking it off each others legs, ears, paws, and anywhere else but the dish. Not that it matters how much mess they make, as any one of the Gang are more than happy to clean up anything left, it's like food sent from heaven
